- 88.4 & 88.6 FM
- About 15 MB an hour online
- Chichewa, English & Tumbuka
Quick answer: Open zodiakmalawi.com/live-radio on your phone and tap the play button under the Zodiak logo. It is free and uses about 15 MB of data an hour. In Malawi you can also tune in on 88.4 FM or 88.6 FM, depending on your town.
Three ways to listen
Listen live on your phone
No app and no sign-up. All you need is a browser and some data or Wi-Fi.
Open the Zodiak Online Radio page
In Chrome, Safari or any browser, go to zodiakmalawi.com/live-radio. Or tap the orange Listen live now button at the top of this guide.
You will see the words Zikachitika, Mumvera Kwa Ife and a big Zodiak logo. Give the player a few seconds to load.
Tap play
Scroll down a little, just past the logo. The play triangle is on the right, next to the volume slider.

The play button sits on the right, under the logo. You are live
The triangle turns into a pause button and the sound starts after a few seconds. Use your phone’s volume buttons or the slider next to the speaker icon.

Playing: the button now shows pause.
Ignore the numbers on the Zodiak logo. The 97.0, 95.1, 95.6 and 92.9 printed on it are Zodiak’s old FM frequencies. Malawi moved every station to new frequencies in 2024, so use the list below instead.

Zodiak now broadcasts on two frequencies, set by MACRA in 2024. Find your town below. Between two towns? Try both and keep the clearer one.

No radio set? Use your phone’s FM app
- Plug in wired earphones. The cable is the aerial, so Bluetooth earphones will not work.
- Open the FM Radio app. Many Tecno, itel and Infinix phones have one built in.
- Type 88.4 or 88.6, or tap Scan and pick Zodiak from the list.
- Want the loudspeaker? Switch the sound to the speaker, but leave the earphones plugged in.
It uses no data and no airtime. iPhones do not have an FM app, so use Way 1.
How much data does Zodiak use?
Zodiak streams at 32 kbps, the same light setting as Times Radio (we measured it in October 2026). Live radio keeps using data until you press pause. More ways to stretch a bundle: our mobile data guide.
Missed a show? Catch up later
You cannot rewind live radio, but Zodiak posts news, interviews and programmes online after they air.
Who runs Zodiak?
Zodiak Broadcasting Station is a private station founded in 2005 by journalist Gospel Kazako. It grew into one of Malawi’s biggest radio networks, known for news, phone-in talk shows and coverage of every district.
Most programmes are in Chichewa, with some in English and Tumbuka. The group also runs Zodiak TV.

Zodiak FAQ
Is it free to listen online?
Yes. There is no fee, account or app. You only pay for the data you use, about 15 MB an hour.
Can I listen from outside Malawi?
Yes. The player on zodiakmalawi.com works anywhere in the world. Malawi is on Central Africa Time (GMT+2), so check the time at home before a show.
Why can I not find Zodiak on 95.1 or 97.0 anymore?
Those were Zodiak’s old frequencies. In 2024 the regulator, MACRA, moved all national stations to new ones. Zodiak is now on 88.4 or 88.6 FM, depending on where you are.
Is there a Zodiak app?
We could not find an official Zodiak radio app. The website player is the safest choice. Be careful with unofficial “Zodiak” apps from unknown developers, which are often full of ads.
What does Zikachitika, Mumvera Kwa Ife mean?
It is Zodiak’s slogan in Chichewa. Roughly: when it happens, you hear it from us.
