- 105.6 & 105.8 FM
- About 60 MB an hour online
- Based in Salima
Quick answer: Tap Listen live now below. It opens the Chisomo Radio Station player in your browser. Tap the round play button. It is free and uses about 60 MB of data an hour. On FM, tune to 105.6 in Salima, Lilongwe and Nkhotakota, or 105.8 in Dowa, Dedza and Kasungu.
Three ways to listen
Listen live on your phone
No app and no sign-up. All you need is a browser and some data or Wi-Fi.
Open the Chisomo Radio player
Tap the Listen live now button at the top of this guide. It opens a dark player card headed Chisomo Radio Station on live.netradio.pro, the service that carries the station’s online stream.
Searching yourself? Other stations called Chisomo Radio exist online. Look for the name Chisomo Radio Station.
Tap the round play button
The white round button with a play arrow sits on the left, next to the grey /radio.mp3 box. Tap it once.

Tap the round play button. Listen, and stop when you are done
The sound starts after a few seconds and the arrow turns into a square. Tap the square to stop.
The song line on the card may show a name from the streaming system, such as 15 Minutes of Silence. Ignore it. When we tested in October 2026 the station was on air with normal sound under that label.

Playing: tap the square to stop.
Keep the page open while you listen. On some phones the sound stops if you close the browser tab or the screen goes to sleep for long. The player has no adverts. The volume slider under the play button sets the level inside the page.
Chisomo Radio frequencies
Chisomo is a regional station for the Central Region. Under MACRA’s current FM plan it uses 105.6 in some areas and 105.8 in others. At home in Salima, it is 105.6.

Older numbers. Radio directories still list Chisomo on 97.0 or 93.4 FM, from before MACRA’s new plan. Those are out of date. The station also says its signal reaches parts of Mangochi and Machinga. If neither 105.6 nor 105.8 comes in, tap Scan on your radio, or use Way 1. A licensed frequency does not always mean a transmitter is running in every area.
No radio set? Use your phone’s FM app
- Plug in wired earphones. The cable is the aerial, so Bluetooth earphones will not work.
- Open the FM Radio app. Many Tecno, itel and Infinix phones have one built in.
- Type 105.6 or 105.8, or tap Scan and look for Chisomo.
- Want the loudspeaker? Switch the sound to the speaker, but leave the earphones plugged in.
It uses no data and no airtime. iPhones do not have an FM app, so use Way 1.
How much data does Chisomo Radio use online?
Chisomo Radio streams at 128 kbps (we measured it in October 2026), the same as Radio ABC and Radio Alinafe. That is about twice Mzati Radio and four times Times Radio, Zodiak or Radio Maria. The sound is clearer, but a small bundle goes faster: a 1 GB bundle gives you about 16 hours of listening. Live radio keeps using data until you press stop. More ways to stretch a bundle: our mobile data guide.
Chisomo news, clips and updates
We found no way to replay past Chisomo Radio shows, and the station’s old website no longer opens. Its Facebook page, with more than 40,000 followers, carries news, clips and announcements.
Video uses far more data than radio. On a small bundle, stick to Way 1 or Way 2.
Who runs Chisomo Radio?
Chisomo Radio Station is a non-profit community radio based in Salima, on the lakeshore in central Malawi, and licensed by MACRA. It describes itself as a regional community radio broadcasting to the rural areas of central Malawi. Its motto is Kufikira Osafikilika, reaching the unreached.
Its programmes, mostly in Chichewa, focus on development: farming, health, local news and the people who live far from town, alongside music and gospel. Directories date the station to around 2014.
In April 2023 Chisomo opened a studio and office in Area 22, Lilongwe, along the M1. Managing director Jeverson Saguga said then that it had transmitters in Salima, Dwangwa, Kasungu, Ntcheu and Lilongwe (AfricaBrief).

Chisomo Radio FAQ
Is it free to listen online?
Yes. There is no fee, account or app needed. You only pay for the data you use, about 60 MB an hour.
Can I listen from outside Malawi?
Yes. The online player works anywhere in the world. Malawi is on Central Africa Time (GMT+2), so check the time at home before your favourite show.
Does Chisomo Radio have a website or app?
We could not find a working website or an app. Use the player link in this guide, which needs no install, and follow the station on Facebook for news.
I found a Chisomo Radio on Zeno.fm. Is it the same station?
No. The Chisomo Radio page on Zeno.fm belongs to a church youth group in Mangochi, not the Salima community station. Use the player in this guide.
Why does my radio guide say 97.0?
Older lists show Chisomo’s frequency from before MACRA moved Malawi’s stations to new numbers. Today the station uses 105.6 and 105.8 FM.
