- 94.0 & 94.2 FM
- About 29 MB an hour online
- On air since 2013
Quick answer: Tap Listen live now below. It opens Mzati Radio on Online Radio Box, a free radio site. Tap the play arrow next to the Mzati logo. It is free and uses about 29 MB of data an hour. On FM, tune to 94.2 in Mulanje, Zomba and Mwanza, or 94.0 in Blantyre, Lilongwe and Mzuzu.
Three ways to listen
Listen live on your phone
No app and no sign-up. All you need is a browser and some data or Wi-Fi.
Open Mzati Radio on Online Radio Box
Tap the Listen live now button at the top of this guide. It opens the Mzati Radio page on onlineradiobox.com, with the green and red Mzati Radio & TV logo.
Mzati Radio does not have a website of its own, so this is the easiest place to listen.
Tap the play arrow
The grey play arrow sits to the right of the Mzati logo. Tap it once. You can also tap the big white arrow in the dark bar at the bottom of the screen.

Tap the play arrow next to the logo. Close the app box, then listen
A box may ask you to install the Online Radio Box app. Tap No, thanks. You do not need the app.
The sound starts after a few seconds. The word playing appears under Mzati Radio in the bottom bar, and the arrow turns into an orange square. Tap the square to stop.

Playing: tap the orange square to stop.
Keep the page open while you listen. On some phones the sound stops if you close the browser tab or the screen goes to sleep for long. Online Radio Box shows adverts around the player. They are part of the free site, not Mzati’s.
Mzati Radio frequencies
Under MACRA’s current FM plan, Mzati Radio uses 94.0 in some areas and 94.2 in others. Find the town nearest you. At home in Mulanje, it is 94.2.

Older numbers. Radio directories and an old Facebook page still list Mzati’s frequencies from before MACRA’s new plan, such as 105.4 or 104.9 in Mulanje. Those are out of date. If neither 94.0 nor 94.2 comes in, tap Scan on your radio, or use Way 1. A licensed frequency does not always mean a transmitter is running in every area.
No radio set? Use your phone’s FM app
- Plug in wired earphones. The cable is the aerial, so Bluetooth earphones will not work.
- Open the FM Radio app. Many Tecno, itel and Infinix phones have one built in.
- Type 94.0 or 94.2, or tap Scan and look for Mzati.
- Want the loudspeaker? Switch the sound to the speaker, but leave the earphones plugged in.
It uses no data and no airtime. iPhones do not have an FM app, so use Way 1.
How much data does Mzati Radio use online?
Mzati Radio streams at 64 kbps (we measured it in October 2026). That is about half of Radio ABC or Radio Alinafe and about twice Times Radio, Zodiak or Radio Maria. A 1 GB bundle gives you more than 30 hours. Live radio keeps using data until you press stop. More ways to stretch a bundle: our mobile data guide.
Mzati news, clips and updates
We found no way to replay past Mzati Radio shows. The station posts news, clips and announcements on Facebook, shared with Mzati TV.
Video uses far more data than radio. On a small bundle, stick to Way 1 or Way 2.
Who runs Mzati Radio?
Mzati Radio is a private station based in Mulanje, in the south of Malawi, run by Mzati Limited, which also runs Mzati TV. It went on air in November 2013 and is licensed by MACRA.
It started as a radio for the Mulanje area and has since grown into a national station. Its programmes are mostly in Chichewa: news, talk shows, music, sport and culture, with a focus on social and development topics for its listeners.
In the early hours of 2 August 2023 a fire damaged the studio transmission equipment and took both the radio and TV off air for a time. Management suspected a fault on an electricity pole. The station is back on air, and its online stream was playing when we tested it in October 2026.
